Questions travellers ask
How do I get to Kobe and Himeji?
The Tokaido-Sanyo Shinkansen stops at Shin-Kobe and Himeji, linking them with Tokyo, Nagoya, Hiroshima and Fukuoka. From Osaka and Kyoto, commuter trains are quick and cheap. Kobe is about an hour from Kansai International Airport, and Kobe Airport has domestic flights.
What is there to see in Hyogo?
Himeji Castle, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and Japan's most beautiful original castle; Kobe's harbor and night views from the Port Tower and ropeway; the Takeda Castle ruins, the castle in the sky; and Kinosaki Onsen, a hot spring town that is best in winter.
What should I eat in Hyogo?
Kobe beef, with fat so fine it melts below body temperature. Try akashiyaki, Akashi's softer, egg-rich take on takoyaki dipped in broth, Akashi sea bream, and botan nabe wild boar hot pot in the mountains.
