Good to know

  • Walk the Philosopher's Path along the canal between Ginkaku-ji and Nanzen-ji. It's at its best in cherry blossom and autumn-leaf season.
  • For a half-day escape from the city, take the Eizan train north to Kurama-dera and walk over the mountain to Kibune Shrine.
  • Ohara, in the far north of the ward, is home to Sanzen-in temple and feels like countryside.
