Good to know

  • The Shimanami Kaido links Imabari with Onomichi in Hiroshima across islands such as Oshima, Hakatajima and Omishima. Cyclists ride it end to end.
  • Oyamazumi Shrine on Omishima holds the largest collection of samurai armour in Japan, including eight National Treasures.
  • Imabari Castle, built by Todo Takatora, is famous for moats filled with sea water. The Murakami Kaizoku Museum tells the story of the Inland Sea's medieval sea lords.
