Champion beef
Japan holds a national Wagyu competition every five years. Miyazaki took the overall title in 2007 and again in 2012, and in 2017 won the Prime Minister's Prize in the beef section.
The meat has fine marbling, a gentle sweetness that spreads in the mouth and a rich aroma. Miyazaki set prefecture-wide feeding standards in 1959, and in 1973 became the first prefecture to manage all its breeding bulls centrally.
Good to know
- Wagyu is very rich. Order a small portion first and add more if you want.
- Compare it with Kobe Beef and Kagoshima Kuroushi from next-door Kagoshima.
